In uncertain economic times, the new addition at Farmers Savings Bank & Trust-Vinton, is a vote of confidence in the future of the area, said President Darlys M. Hulme.

"This bold undertaking by our bank during the current economic slowdown makes a statement that we are confident of the future of our marketing area. We are committed to providing exceptional service and products to our customers and the community of Vinton," said Hulme.

The new addition will add 20 feet to the west side of the building, which will maintain its current architectural style and look.

The project includes an update of the main floor, with a re-design of Hulme's office. The addition will also include a new office for Jeff Peterson, the Farmers Vice President and investment representative, along with a private conference room for the investment department. A new Board of Directors room will be incorporated into the main floor.

The $500,000 project is expected to be completed in four to five months, said Peterson.

The general contractor is Kirk Gross Company of Waterloo. Several local subcontractors will participate in the project.

The ground-breaking held Monday afternoon included FSB executive and board members, local leaders and representatives from the Kirk Gross Company.
