Flaughless 5K organizers Georgia (Meeker) Sysouchanh and Lisa Horak, were invited to attend the VIPS Day (Very Influential Proud Supporter) event to be held in April 2015 at Wounded Warrior Project headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida.
“As a "Very Influential Proud Supporter of Wounded Warrior Project, we'd like to celebrate you as one of our most successful and loyal community event hosts. Please join us as we honor your dedication to furthering the WWP mission – to honor and empower Wounded Warriors. You'll have the opportunity to interact with other Proud Supporters, share tools and best practices for your fundraising campaigns in the future, and learn more about the impact your support has on our 20 programs and services,” Wounded Warrior Project leaders said in a letter to Georgia and Lisa..
The Flaughless 5K, which is held annually at Riverside Park in Vinton, has raised more than $45,000 for WWP since it began in 2012.
“We are honored to be recognized by Wounded Warrior Project for our fundraising efforts, especially given the much smaller scale of the Flaughless 5K compared to other events around the nation that raise millions for them,” said Georgia. “We look forward to learning more about Wounded Warrior Project and how we can grow our event.”
The 4th Annual Flaughless 5K is expected to be Saturday, October 10, 2015, pending approval from the Vinton City Council.
