New pencils, new folders, new clothes, and seeing old friends, that is what the excitement is about for the students at the Middle School on this first day of class. New students, new schedules, new assignments, and adjusting to a new principal are on the teachers minds today.

On Tuesday, we kicked off the first day of school with cool temperatures and an excitement about the new school year.

Teachers and students will be traveling through the curriculum today in a very different way. We have revamped the schedule and the students will be attending each core curriculum class for 57 minutes. All students will participate in Art, PE, and Industrial Technology on a 6 day rotation throughout the year. Along with the core classes students in 7th and 8th grade will have the opportunity to be engaged in encore classes that include: Careers, Health, Family Consumer Science, and Technology that expand the students thinking beyond what is happening in their world today to what paths must they take to be a successful adult.

Fall sports will be beginning very soon. Our 7th and 8th graders will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports. Practice for cross country, football, and volleyball will begin yet this week. Sports are a great opportunity for students to learn to work together as a team.

We offer many activities at the Middle School level to help our students become well-rounded individuals and we hope you are able to attend one of our many events this fall. We look forward to this school year with great excitement and hope all our students will have a rewarding and successful year. Whether you are a parent of a Middle School student or someone who passed through the halls many years ago we welcome you to come by and visit our facilities.
