News : Back to School: classes start tomorrow; families can meet new teachers tonight

Everyone, from the Kindergarten students going to school for the very first time, to the Vinton-Shellsburg School Board will notice the change as the school year begins this week.

Tilford Elementary Back to School Night takes place for students in grades 1-4 in Vinton from 5-7 p.m. This event offers students and parents a chance to bring their materials to the classroom, and meet their new teacher.

Shellsburg Back To School Night is from 6-8 p.m., for all 5th grade students in the district as well as those in grades K-4 who live in Shellsburg.

The High School Back to School Night for grades 9-12 also takes place from 6-8 p.m.

The Vinton-Shellsburg School Board will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Classes begin Tuesday, Aug. 12, for grades 1-12, but there will be a two-hour early dismissal.

The Band Boosters hold their first meeting of the school year at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
