The “Tree Walk” is your opportunity to visit the hospital lobby area, see the trees first hand, and bid (via silent auction) on your favorite displays. It’s easy, fun and it’s for a great cause. Celebrating our 22nd year, the annual Tree of Lights fundraising campaign helps Virginia Gay Hospital and Clinics, a not-for-profit organization, purchase crucial medical instruments to better serve our community.

Since the establishment of the VGH Healthcare Foundation annual Tree of Lights campaign in 1992 more than $1,017,000 in donations has made a tremendous impact on the ability of VGH to serve the healthcare needs of Benton County. Annually, the Tree of Lights campaign raises as much as $89,000, and has funded many necessary purchases of equipment. Past Tree of Lights funds have helped to pay for these purchases: surgical equipment, pediatric oxygen sensors, EKG equipment, call light systems, plethysmographs, van with lift conversions, treadmills, Bipap machines, Ultrasound PICC Line System, and Digital Mammography Equipment and much more.

Everyone has their own reason for giving, but scholars from the University of Notre Dame who study the science of generosity found five main reasons people give, they are: “personal experiences, they want to make a difference, they want to do something active about a problem or take a stand on a particular issue, they are motivated by personal recognition and benefits; giving is good thing to do.”

“This year our goal is to exceed $100,000 which would set a new record for Tree of Light giving” said Timmermans. Money raised in this holiday fundraiser will be used for the purchase of needed equipment for many of our departments.
