Downtown Vinton was filled on Saturday morning with hundreds of children in a variety of costumes for the annual VPRD Halloween celebration. After meeting at 10 a.m. for games and treats on the courthouse lawn, the children paraded through the downtown area, receiving treats at many area businesses.
The celebration the late October traditions continue on Friday, as official Vinton trick-or-treat hours are from 5-7 p.m.
Children will also be welcome to visit the Virginia Gay Hospital Nursing and Rehab Center, Vinton Lutheran Home and from 4-6 at Windsor Manor. Also, a "trunk-or-treat" event sponsored by Revolution Church members will take place on Second Street near Celebration Park.
