A Boy Scout that has achieved the rank of Eagle Scouts may be nominated for the American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year Award by submitting a nomination form to the Legion Department in which they reside. Each Department will select one nomination to forward to National for consideration for the Eagle Scout of the Year Award.
The American Legion Department of Iowa awards scholarships annually to its top three finalists, first place $1000, second place $750 and third place $500. The American Legion of Iowa Foundation awards a matching scholarship to the three finalists.
The 2015 American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year Award winner will join the youth champion delegation and participate in the 97thAnnual American Legion National Convention in Baltimore MD, August 28- September 1, 2015, he will also receive a $10,000 scholarship. Three runner-up scholarships will be granted in the amount of $2,500 each.
