A minivan parked more than 100 yards from the gravel of 65th Street south of Shellsburg has led to a massive search for a missing woman.
Volunteer firefighters and First Responders from most of Benton County's cities have joined the Benton County Sheriff's Department in searching for the driver, whose name has not yet been released.
"It's a missing person case," said Sheriff Randy Forsyth. He said he is in the process of contacting family members for permission to release the woman's name. Authorities presume the driver wandered off; foul play is not suspected.
Authorities found the van south of 65th Street, just west of 29th Avenue, parked in a grassy buffer zone between a corn field and the wooded area along the creek that winds through the area.
