With nearly two dozen health and wellness experts on hand, nearly three dozen free flu shots given, and nearly 100 people in attendance, the first the first Benton County Health and Wellness Fair, held that the Vinton Skate and Activity Center, was a success!
“Interesting demonstrations and educational sessions provided good, relevant information,” said Mike Timmermans, Virginia Gay Hospital Healthcare Foundation Director and organizer. He continued, “The people that attended said they had a nice time, thought we had a nice variety of vendors. In fact, several thought we had a better variety than some of the Cedar Rapids events they’ve been to.”
The VGH Healthcare Foundation partnered with the Vinton Parks and Recreation Department, hosting the event at the Skate and Activity Center. Timmermans said, “Duane [Randall] and his VPRD staff always do a great job when they host events as far as organizing and planning. This event was no exception.”
Given the success of this first health and wellness fair, organizers are connecting with vendors to consider plans for a second fair next year.
