Despite the humidity and a heat advisory, many Vinton-area residents filled Riverside Park for the second round of Party in the Park. The concert and fireworks show that had been planned for the last Saturday in June were reschedule because of thunderstorms.

The Chicago Spazmatics entertained the crowd with its variety of 1980s rock music favorites. Children and adults of all ages joined the party, dancing along with the band. A group of recent AmeriCorps arrivals, still in Vinton for their training, also joined in the fun.

Vinton Parks and Recreation leaders honored donors as well as this year's Grand Marshals, Dwight and Bonnie Sanders.

Chuck Yedlik and his Bar-Y crew created a fireworks show that could be seen from most of Vinton, and which left the audience applauding loudly.
