VIRGINIA GAY HOSPITAL WELCOMES NEW PROVIDER
New ER/Hospitalist Jill Reese, PA-C Joins VGH
The Virginia Gay Hospital and Clinics is pleased to announce Jill Reese, PA-C is now a part of the VGH healthcare team. Jill Reese is the latest addition to the provider team at VGH and is serving as an ER/Hospitalist.
According to the Society of Hospital Medicine, “Hospitalists are [providers] whose primary professional focus is the general medical care of hospitalized patients. Hospital medicine is a specialty organized around a site of care (the hospital) rather than an organ (like cardiology), a disease (like oncology), or a patient's age (like pediatrics). Hospitalists help manage patients through the continuum of hospital care, often seeing patients in the ER, following them into the critical care unit and organizing post-acute care.”
Jill Reese earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa in 2007 receiving her bachelor’s degree in health and sport studies, and then began working as a CNA doing Phlebotomy work. She earned her Physician Assistant (PA) degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 2010. Through rotations, internships and employment, Jill brings a wealth of hospital and emergency room experiences gained while working at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital (Charleston, IL), Touchette Regional Hospital (East St. Louis, MO), Missouri Baptist Hospital (St. Louis, MO), and most recently at Anderson Hospital (Maryville, IL).
With her parents living in Cedar Rapids and an appreciation for rural healthcare Jill values providing medical care to small communities. Jill and her husband, Chad (a Mercedes Benz automotive mechanic), look forward to developing roots in eastern Iowa and ultimately starting a family.
In their spare time they find great satisfaction providing support to patients and elderly residents with their dogs. They are advocates and volunteers with animal therapy programs, such as “Support Dogs” and becoming involved with “Therapy Dogs of Johnson Co.”
They enjoy their animals, spending time outdoors and fishing, traveling, photography and are big Hawkeye fans!
Please join us in welcoming Jill and her husband, Chad, to the VGH family.
