The Patient Care Academy Class at Vinton-Shellsburg High School, and instructor Kris Hallberg are celebrating the recent certification of every class member after each passed the State of Iowa Nurse Aide Certification Exam, which is necessary to become a Certified Nurse's Aide.
The year-long class is one of the joint ventures between V-S and Kirkwood Community College. Those who successfully complete the class earn 14 college credits as well as become licensed CNAs.
The class members are considering a variety of health care occupations; two have begun working for local facilities. The class members who are now officially CNAs are Jaeger Shaw, Alyssa Cantrell, Rickey Russell, Olivia Oltrogge and Abby Patterson.
