I admit it, my favorite project all year long on Vinton Today is this article.
Each year, we pause in the hustle and bustle of life and take a moment to reflect on those who so selflessly gave their time and some even their lives to serve these great United States of America.
Each year I look up a military salute online and listen to the songs of the Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and the Air Force. Every year my heart swells with pride to have the honor to know some of these great men and women who so selflessly serve and have served our country.
The civilians, like myself, haven't got a clue what you went through in serving your country.
To the wives or husband, the children, moms and dads that hold your breath while your loved ones serve, our heartfelt gratitude goes out to you as well. It's not easy being on this side of any ocean waiting for the moment for your loved ones to return.
We we thanked many times over the last week as we compiled this list of veteran, for doing this...and each time I felt like this is the very least we can do for you fine men and women.
On behalf of all fellow Americans, we say, "Thank You!"
We've added a special feature on our Facebook page this year.
There is a special album for our Veterans located here called, "Our Benton County Veterans" This page will live on our Facebook page year around.
We have also listed the names and information that we have collected as a "Note" on our Facebook page as well, it's located here
Thank you to all the Veterans that sent in your pictures, the spouses, the children and the family historians that took your time to send in the pictures and information from as far back as the Civil War.
We were thrilled to be able to include all of these Veterans!
And again to our Veterans, a heartfelt THANK YOU from your friends and neighbors here in Benton County!
