Lynn Fraker, 54, of North Liberty, and formerly of Vinton, died in car crash in Missouri Sunday, July 11.

According to the Missouri  Highway Patrol, Fraker was a passenger in a car driven by Douglas Hill, also of Iowa.

Officers say Charles Howdeshell, 50, of Vandalia, Mo., tried to pass Hill's vehicle, but  hit it. Hill's vehicle was forced into oncoming traffic and was hit head-on by a third vehicle, driven by Robert Becker from Laddonia, Mo.

Fraker died at the scene.  Hill was taken to University Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.

Several people in Becker's vehicle were taken to University Hospital in serious condition as well.

Howdeshell was arrested by the  Missouri  Highway Patrol for numerous charges, including involuntary manslaughter, assault, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a loaded weapon while intoxicated, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and careless driving. He's still at the Audrain County Jail as of Monday morning.

Fraker was the director of the Career Academy at Kirkwood, and had spent many years working with Vinton students.
