Youngville Cafe at the corner of Highway 30 (the historic Lincoln Highway and 218 south of Vinton will be part of one of the largest garage sales in the country this year.

Yard sale enthusiasts in Iowa, buyers and sellers both can become part of a nearly 1000 mile long yard sale event on Aug 5th, 6th, & 7th, 2010 during the 5th Lincoln Highway Buy-Way Yard sale.
Iowa is participating in the event for the first time, joining West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois.
The yard sale concept began in 2006 in Ohio and is planned for the first full weekend in August"
The idea of the Buy-Way Yard Sale is for people to rediscover the lesser-traveled path of the original Lincoln Highway, once a fledgling path of marked trails which became a road that began connecting America by automobile, and changed the way we travel today. This event not only encourages individuals and small businesses to gain revenue through increased tourism, thereby helping the local economies, but also promotes and educates the public about the Lincoln Highway.
Individual communities benefit by exposing travelers to the charms of their towns, their retailers, local attractions and restaurants. The yard sale also gives local organizations and churches a way to make money.
Communities are encouraged to hold citywide garage sales, carnivals, concerts, street dances, serve food and offer kids activities.
Participating Yard sales and events are  listed on the Iowa LHA website at: http://www.lincolnhighwayassoc.org (go to the Iowa page and follow the Buyway link).
