An FFA member who loves horses and a guy who plays soccer year round are the 2013 Vinton-Shellsburg High School Queen and King

2012 King and Queen Daniel Ervin and Erin Randall crowned the 2013 King Sam Martin and Queen Karley Kenney during rain-changed ceremonies Thursday in the VSHS gym.

A severe thunderstorm prompted school leaders to cancel the parade and Powder Puff football game, and to move the event inside.

The King and Queen and the rest of the court will be introduced during Friday's Homecoming game.

The rally included performances by the VSHS cheerleaders, who performed some new routines. The Pep Band also played. There was also a game/prank in which four players were blindfolded and asked to guess which cheerleader had kissed them on the cheek. The players' mothers were actually the ones planting the kisses.
