V-S parents receive notice of possible threat
Parents of middle school students in the Vinton-Shellsburg School District received notice that a student had issued a threat on Monday. However, the school reassured parents that the threat had been investigated..The notification from the school reads, "Following the conclusion of school today we had notice of a possible threat at the middle school.

I missed a couple of timely items for the Vinton Shellsburg School District so I am sending out this email with a special update as well on action taken by the Benton County Supervisors.
Update: The Supervisors have changed tomorrow's agenda
For unknown reasons, the Auditor item which was previously on the agenda for tomorrow has been removed from the meeting with the Benton County Supervisors. However, topic number 15 at 9:30 A.M. Information Technology is still on.Re: Possible closed session pursuant to Iowa Code 21.5(1)(i) To evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual's reputation and that individual requests a closed session.
Here's a chance to "Flag" someone while supporting area Cub Scouts
There are so many things about America that are wonderful but oftentimes we can find ourselves losing sight of these reasons in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It is important to recognize the opportunities we have, the traditions that shape our families, the people we interact with and exposure to places around the country. Cub Scout Pack 47 would like our community to join together in remembering the freedoms we have as Americans and how this came to be. Vinton Food Pantry Receives Donation from Knights of Columbus
The Vinton Food Pantry received a donation from the local Marian Council 3893 Knights of Columbus in the amount of $700. The money will go toward the purchase of supplies for the pantry. On hand to make the donation from the Marian Council 3893, Knight of Columbus were Rob Levis and Craig Ollinger. Also pictured were Greg Walston who works with Old School Produce as well as the Iowa State Extension office in Vinton, Judy Neal and Elaine Bearbower who both volunteer for the Food Pantry. By Co-Reporter, Juliana LuisSaturday, March 9th was a day to put in the books for the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter. The morning of the District Convention was tense as members practiced their competitions before loading up on the bus for the ride to Waukon. The bus ride there was filled with singing and practicing for the day ahead of them. District Convention started at 9:00 am.
