4th St. Diner in Need of an upright Freezer ASAP

UPDATE!We were fortunate to have several people reach out to us and we received a brand new freezer today. Simply amazing! I am overwhelmed with the positive support of the community members and your readers.  We really appreciate it.  —-The 4th St. Diner is in desperate need of an upright freezer to replace one that just died.  If any readers have one in good working condition we would be interested in accepting it as a donation.

Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Plant Sale Grows Over $8,500 for Ag Program

With strong support from the greenhouse management class, students grew and sold a wide range of flowers, vegetables, hanging baskets, succulents, and even handmade wooden planter boxes built by Ag students.

35 Year Service Award: Tina Eden Virginia Gay Hospital proudly celebrated the commitment and dedication of its staff during the 2025 Annual Employee Awards Banquet, held at the Vinton Country Club on Wednesday evening. The event brought together staff, family, and leadership to recognize employees who have reached milestone anniversaries in their service to the hospital and community.

Addy Phippen spoke to the Class of 2025 at Sunday's Graduation Vinton-Shellsburg High School Gym was a place of celebration on Sunday for the Class of 2025. The  high school band played "Pomp and Circumstance: as the graduates filed in. There was a common theme. As they began their walk down the aisle, each graduate scanned the crowd looking for the ones that brought them to this place. As soon as their eyes connected, a smile would break out across the face of the one in the cap and gown.

Students Explore Agriculture at Benton County’s Third Grade Ag Day

Students from Tilford Elementary and neighboring school districts rotated through a series of hands-on educational stations, each led by members of the Vinton-Shellsburg, Benton Community, and Belle Plaine FFA chapters.
