The Cottage Garden Society along with help from the Vinton Parks and Recreation Department came up with a plan to make downtown Vinton bloom. Planters were added to the light poles in the downtown are where baskets were placed.

Iowa lakes and rivers will soon be busy with paddlers, boaters, swimmers and people wading to search for fossils, rocks and driftwood or to clean up litter.

The Urbana City Council voted to terminate the Police Chief, Joshua Baker. Baker had been on paid leave since April of 2024, just over a year ago. In a 3 to 2 vote, the council fired Baker without cause.

The Shellsburg Area Community Group’s latest effort to bring an upgrade to the City Park was very successful. The goal was to replace the worn and unattractive picnic tables in the frequently used park pavilion.
