Spring brings iVinton Crews back to Town

Last year snow in October brought the iVinton project to a screeching halt. The installation of conduit and fiber to homes had to stop because the ground had frozen.

Vinton Public Library offers TumbleBooks online, books and coloring pages

The Vinton Public Library is offering several books online now.   "Our patrons are now able to access TumbleBooks through our website for free until the end of August," said Amy Noe who works with the children at the library.

When Vinton hears of a need, Vinton steps up. The side effects of this pandemic have created a shortage of masks for hospitals. As soon as the news hit, a group of nearly 30 area residents began to make plans to help.

Governor releases new website to update status of Coronavirus: Stay Home

In the Governor's statements made on Tuesday, she gave a bit of good news. Iowans really are listening. Traffic according to the IDOT is down by 50% however trucking has not slowed compared to a year ago! That means we are staying home, while supplies are still rolling in!There is a brand new website up to keep all the current information available to the public.

First COVID-19 Death Confirmed in Iowa

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) learned late today of the first death associated with novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The individual was an older adult, 61-80 years of age, and a resident of Dubuque County.

Two Cases of COVID-19 Confirmed in Benton County

Two cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in Benton County. These cases were not tested through Virginia Gay Hospital or Clinics. According to the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), the individuals are self-isolating at home.

Sunday was Kenidi Root's 9th birthday. Unfortunately, she didn’t get to see friends on her special day.   Sure there were some waves shared from the window, and some surprises left at the door, but she wanted to spread some kindness of her own.
