Vinton Police Department Log for Week of June 12-18, 2023All Charges are subject to review by the Benton County Attorney’s Office. An arrest or criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the Defendant is presumed innocent, unless proven guilty. Intrastate Warrants are issued by Law Enforcement Agencies for crimes happening in their jurisdictions.

Trash collection is currently facilitated through J and R Sanitation of Garrison, IA. Beginning July 1, 2023, sanitation services will be facilitated through S&J Sanitation. The billing for trash removal is handled through the VMEU Utilities billing.Garbage cans will be collected for J&R June 26,27,28, Place carts out for collection.S & J Sanitation will begin serving Vinton as the contracted hauler for garbage and recycling on July 1, 2023.

The Benton County Fair is underway!It takes many, many people to pull off the events at the fair. Several competitions and displays are now being seen in the Open Class Building (off to the left as you enter the fairgrounds) and judges have begun to award ribbons in the entries.See the Fair Book below for the numerous categories and details!Both adults and youth are in competition for the blue ribbon entries.

Simply, the short answer is YES!! Yes, there will be a Boomtown 2023! Pick up the phone and tell your friends, grab the laptop, and email your family! Everyone grab your calendars and circle Saturday, August 26th! Boomtown is back for its 16th annual Vinton show!! Let’s make 2023 the year to get those ‘Boomtown newbies’ to the show! If you’re anywhere this side of the Mississippi, this is an event that should NOT be missed.

Blessed Hope Community Church held their annual in town mission project, Faith in Action. The church compiles a list of locations in the community that need assistance. Sometimes people are nominated and some ask for help. In total, this year the church was able to serve 23 households. Between 65 and 80 adults helped each day and more than 100 children participated in the various activities.

Tuttle who attended the District Ag Mechanics competition on May 3rd at NICC in Calmar. Team 1 consisted of Christopher Fleming, Andrew Brummer, and Dallas Fairbanks who placed fourth as a team.

Residents will have the opportunity to share their ideas for improving Vinton at a design workshop hosted by the Vinton Visioning committee at the Farmer’s Market in Celebration Park on Thursday evening June 29th at 5:00pm. This workshop is the culmination of an input-gathering process to identify transportation needs and opportunities for enhancements in Vinton.

"Where Everybody Knows Your Name" was the theme of this year's Party in the Park. The theme coincided with the 30th anniversary of the Cheers TV show that used that song as its theme song.The community picnic held at Farmers Savings Bank & Trust kicked off all of the fun on Thursday night. The kiddie parade followed and went from the banks to the courthouse lawn.
