Parenting is tough. Parenting during a pandemic is even tougher. This is why Worldmaker International, a resilience educational organization, and the Cedar Rapids Community School District (CRCSD) are teaming up to offer a Pandemic Parenting Webinar Series.

For three Thursdays in May, resilience experts from Worldmaker and CRCSD will cover topics identified in a survey as being pressing issues for local parents. Each webinar will provide strategies and tools to strengthen parents and help them guide children through the pandemic and other tough life situations.

The webinar schedule is as follows:

  • May 13 - Dealing with Stress

  • May 20 - Managing Emotions & Staying Regulated

  • May 27 - What to Do When Life Feels Like It's Out of Control

Pandemic Parenting webinars will take place via Zoom at 7:00 PM central time. They will run for 30 minutes, followed by the opportunity for participants to ask questions to the presenters.

"It's been a tough year for many eastern Iowa families. Parents adapting to new work schedules and priorities, children shifting to remote learning and seeing less of their classmates. The demands are high, but help is available," expressed Kristen Hayes, Research & Education Manager at Worldmaker. "This webinar series is intended to provide relief and practical strategies to assist parents experiencing high levels of stress with their child or family situation during the pandemic."

This project is funded by an Iowa CARES Act grant from Mental Health/Disability Services of the East Central Region. Participation is free and those who register will receive a recording of the webinar.
