(Vinton, IA ) The Knox Blocks Foundation donated 20 Owlet Smart Socks to Virginia Gay Hospitals & Clinics. Knox Blocks board members, Peter Eikamp and Jessica Albertsen, presented their donation to Virginia Gay Hospital's CEO Michelle Schoonover and clinical nurse manager, Tyler Henkle. The hospital plans to distribute them to families in need throughout the community. They chose the angel anniversary of Knox Palmer, the namesake of the organization, as the day to make their donation.
The Knox Blocks Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving families peace of mind for their little ones by donating Owlet Smart Socks to infants across the country. Owlet Smart Socks are a device worn by infants to track heart and oxygen levels and alerts parents of something abnormal - providing parents and caregivers with the right information at the right time. Three years ago today, Knox Palmer went to heaven, passing from SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome). The Knox Blocks Foundation distributes as many Owlet Smart Socks as possible in honor of the infant. To date, the Knox Blocks Foundation has given out over 4,000 Owlet Smart Socks!
This last year, the foundation created an initiative titled the Green Glow Project. The mission for that initiative is to provide Owlet Smart Socks to registered daycare centers and in-home providers across the state of Iowa. To date, the organization has 250 infants using smart socks, including those that were installed at Happy Time Daycare in Vinton during October 2019.
