The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Seeman, Tippet and Volz present. Chairman Seeman called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. at the Benton County Service Center. Members of the public are invited to join in during open session or watch the livestream at https://www.youtube.com/bentoncountyiowa. Full Resolutions will be available in the Auditor’s office and at: www.bentoncountyia.gov

Volz moved/Tippett seconded: To approve the agenda. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.

Volz moved/Tippett seconded: To approve the minutes of Tuesday, May 19, 2026. All members voting aye. Motion carried.

Tippett moved/Volz seconded: To approve the 5/21/2026 payroll checks numbered 144079 through 144085, ACH Deposits 65376 through 65546 and vendor checks 257417 through 257423 and claims numbered 257244 through 257549. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.

Volz moved/Tippett seconded: To approve the FY27 Service Contract between Benton County and East Central Iowa Council of Government (ECICOG) and authorize chairman’s signature. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.

Tippett moved/Volz seconded: To accept resignation from Randy Peterson, part-time transportation driver and thanked him for his years of service. All members voting aye. Motion carried.

Tippett moved/Volz seconded: To approve hiring Jim Frentress as a part-time transportation driver pending back ground check, effective June 1, 2026 at a starting rate of $18.32 an hour and after six months to increase to $19.32. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.

Volz moved/Tippett seconded: To approve and sign letters to send EMS Entities that are outside of Benton County and provide them a drafted 28E agreement for their approval if they want to be able to submit claims for reimbursement under the EMS Trust Fund Policy with authorizing Auditor Rippel to add verbiage regarding the FY 26 deadline. All members voting aye thereon. Motion carried.

Tippett moved/Volz seconded: To approve the firework permit for Prairie Creek Christian Church for an event to be held on Friday, July 3, 2026. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.

Volz moved/Tippett seconded: To approve the lease agreement between Benton County and Area Substance Abuse Council (ASAC) for them to have office space at the Benton County Service Center paying $850 a month and $1,5000 for the renovation costs incurred effective June 1, 2026. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.

Tippett moved/Volz seconded: To approve Resolution #26-44, Service Area Budget Amendments for Area 1 in the amount of $200 and Area 9 in the amount of $1,200. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.

Supervisor Tippett reported on his recent Central Iowa Juvenile Detention meeting, and the drafted revised 28E agreement he sent out for the Attorney to look over. He also had a HACAP meeting last week. Supervisor Volz didn’t have any meetings to report on last week but has 3 this week.

Tippett moved/Volz seconded: To adjourn meeting at 9:19 a.m. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
