Benton County Treasurer Re-Election Announcement:

It’s that time again! I am seeking re-election as the Benton County Treasurer. I encourage all voters to participate in the Primary on June 2, 2026, and I would greatly appreciate your support—please vote for Melinda Schoettmer!

My Experience and Qualifications:

I have been dedicated to serving Benton County since September 11, 1997. My journey with the county began over 28 years ago, and since April 7, 2020, I have had the honor of serving as your Treasurer. In May 2025, I successfully completed the Iowa State Treasurers County Association Certificaton for County Treasurer Program, further enhancing my qualifications to serve our community effectively.

About the Treasurer’s Office:

The Treasurer’s Office is one of the busiest departments in the courthouse. We assist residents with a variety of essential services, including the payment of property taxes, vehicle titling, and annual vehicle registrations. Additionally, our office provides Driver's License and Identification Services. We are also responsible for managing the finances for the County , ensuring that operations run smoothly and efficiently.

My Commitment to Benton County:

As Treasurer, I may not always be the face you see when you visit our office, but I am consistently working behind the scenes to ensure the county functions seamlessly. This role demands a combination of knowledge, experience, dedication, and patience—all qualities I bring to the position. I strongly believe that consistent leadership enables our office to operate more efficiently and keeps our customers satisfied.
