The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in special session to join the Benton County Conservation Board on a tour of the county parks. Supervisors Seeman, Tippett and Volz present. Chairman Seeman called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m. at the Rodgers Park Grilling Garden.
The meeting kicked off by checking out the equipment used by the Iowa Roadside Management. Eric Schares, Weed Commissioner was also available for questions. Benton County Transportation Bus provided the transportation to tour the various properties within the county that Conservation maintains. Conservation Director Shelby Williams and staff provided insight of recent projects finished and ongoing. The tour started through Rodgers Park, then drove by the Edna Shain Fen and Wetland area near Mt. Auburn and followed by the Wildcat Park and seeing the new shower/bath house that was recently finished. The next stop was Atkins Roundhouse Area where everyone was able to get out and see the trails and all the improvements being made. The last stop on the tour was Hannen Lake Property and all the improvements there and ended back at Rodgers Park. The Conservation Board followed up with their normal monthly meeting.
Supervisor Volz had to leave the meeting at 2:00 p.m.
Seeman moved/Tippett seconded: To adjourn meeting at 4:28 p.m. Motion carried.
