The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Seeman and Bierschenk and Primmer present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. at the conference room at the Benton County Service Center. Members of the public were provided the zoom access capability to join in during open session and livestream at https://www.youtube.com/bentoncountyiowa. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously. Bierschenk moved/Primmer seconded: To Approve Resolution #22-48, Abatement of Taxes on a mobile home #003-00346W in the amount of $882.00. Motion carried.

Melinda Schoettmer updated the board about closing the Treasurer's office on July 14, 2022 to attend training.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To set land use hearing date of Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 9:15 a.m. for Amana Farms, Inc. a part of SE ¼ NE ¼ of Sec 31-83-10. Motion carried.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve the hire of Hunter Jensen as Iowa Roadside Management Internship at hourly rate of $17 effective June 27, 2022.

Bierschenk moved/Primmer seconded: To approve farm exemption application for Braxton and Alex Clubb, in a part of the SE ¼ NE ¼ and a part of the SW ¼ of the NE ¼ of Sec 3-85-10. Motion carried.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve the minutes of Tuesday June 7, 2022. Motion carried.

The time of 9:15 a.m. having arrived, and this being the time and date for a land use hearing for Nutrien Ag Solutions in part of the NW ¼ NW ¼ of 13-82-11. Nutrien had a representative present. Marc Greenlee presented the technical information with the Benton County Agricultural Land Use Preservation Ordinance. Nutrien would like to build a dry fertilizer storage building and office. This site in review has not been in production since early 80s, so the CSR of 80 is irrelevant. The driveway will need widened, and rural water runs by this site so would make it easy to access it. There are no residential buildings near the site. Eight adjacent owners were notified, and one response before this meeting just inquiring on the plans. Greenlee said that this is an agriculturally based business and it supports the agriculture activities in the area. No further comments, public hearing was closed.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve land use hearing for Nutrien Ag Solutions in part of the NW ¼ NW ¼ of 13-82-11. Motion carried.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve and extend lease agreement between Benton County and Cedar valley Ranch Inc, for a one-year term from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023. Motion carried.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve the use of the courthouse grounds for the Vinton Cruise committee for September 24, 2022. Motion carried.

David Frank, ARCA Search, gave a presentation for services they provide and explained the job he quoted to the Auditor and Recorder's office. The company scans old documents and records and puts them into a searchable data base. No action was taken, but just wanted to demonstrate the different capabilities to the board.

Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve Resolution #22-49, Wage and classification change for Dennis Shea in secondary roads to $22.76 an hour effective June 14, 2022. Motion carried.

Bierschenk moved/Primmer seconded: To approve the adopt a road application from Hooligans Car Club of Iowa. Motion carried.

The time of 10:15 a.m. having arrived, the Board proceeded with the canvass of the Primary Election held on June 7, 2022. The results were reviewed and verified by the Board.
