Due to the rising COVID-19 cases in Benton County, there are many concerns about reducing the risk of spread. The library will operate under "Orange" Status, which enforces some strict guidelines about services offered.
Ok, so what does "orange status" really mean? The library building continues to remain closed to the public.Patrons can call in requests for materials via email or phone, with material pickup available 2 days a week. Fines will be waived for materials checked out during this period. Please call the library at 319-436-2112 or email director@shellsburg.lib.ia.us to reserve materials for check out. Pick up times are Tuesdays and Thursdays 2-4pm ONLY. Please be sure to call ahead of that time for pickup. Items will be placed in bags with your name in a tote outside. Materials returned during this time are set aside and sprayed with Lysol. They can be returned to regular circulation 5 days later. Staff will make every effort to notify patrons that some materials will have delayed availability due to safety precautions and sanitation.
Online digital collection is still available for use.
All in-person library programs continue to be cancelled.
No public computer stations are available. Public wifi around the building will still be available for those who need to use it. Please observe proper social distancing if using the wifi. The Library Director will continue to answer any questions received by email: director@shellsburg.lib.ia.usLibrary voicemail (319-436-2112) will be checked periodically when the staff is in the building.
The lower level will not be available to the public.
We will continue to evaluate on a monthly basis if the operating status should change and notify our patrons accordingly. Stay safe!
