The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Primmer, Bierschenk and Seeman were present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Members of the public were provided the zoom access capability to join in during open session. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously. Summarized Resolutions will be available in the Auditor's office and at: www.bentoncountyiowa.org

Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To approve the minutes of April 14, 2020. Motion carried.

Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To set land use hearing date for Dustin and Nicole Druschel in part of SW1/4 SW1/4 11-85-10. Motion carried.

Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: Approve payroll checks numbered 141234 through 141244, ACH deposits numbered 41384 through 41522 , vendor checks 234841 through 234848 claims numbered 234849 through 234967. Motion carried.

Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To certify tax suspension list to Department of Human Services. Motion carried.

Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To approve and sign service agreement with Nyhart, to provide the interim service for the GASB 75 actuarial update. Motion carried.

Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To increase the insured coverage amounts agreed on for the Courthouse and Benton County Service Center, with new premium costs to begin on July 1, 2020. Courthouse is valued at $8,000,000 and the Service Center at $2,056,313 with $100,000 in contents. Motion carried.

Discussion about the City of Newhall wanting to put up solar panels across the street where the county maintainer shed is. The Board agreed to have them move forward with this and will sign an official easement agreement in the future when everything is in place. The city will be obtaining quotes and also has agreed to do the mowing of this area in the future.

Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve utility permit(s) for Interstate Power and Light Company/Alliant Energy to change from overhead to underground lines in Iowa Township. Motion carried.

Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve Utility permit for East Cental Iowa REC to bore underground in the county's right of way in sections 5 and 6 of Jackson Township. Motion carried.

Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To approve Resolution #20-26, Bridge Embargo Removal in Homer Township on 11th Avenue between 66th Street/66th Street. Motion carried.

Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve and sign lease agreement between Benton County and Benton County Agricultural Extension d/b/a Old School Produce Partners through December 31, 2020. Motion carried.

The County Attorney has looked over the lease agreement between East Central Iowa Council Of Government (ECICOG) and Benton County. The terminology was fine, but this can wait until the building is done. Thompson was going to see about getting the sub-contractor agreements moving forward so the work can get started.
