You might think that all you do when attending a caucus is to choose the candidate that will represent your party in the Presidential Election.

This year the incumbent, Donald Trump will, of course, be the nominee for the Republican Party. So why attend?

The purpose of the caucus is also to create the platform that your party will stand on. What would you like the party to say that they believe in?

Do you have a "plank" that you'd like to add to the party's platform? If you do, you attend the caucus and share that with the folks in attendance. This is where grassroots ideas move forward.

Some of those in attendance will be nominated and chosen to serve on the local county central committee, where the "planks" are sorted through and condensed down to send on to the state level.

The "planks" are then sent on to the state delegates who will combine the planks from all of the counties. Then they will take it to the national level.

This is how the party platform is decided.

So caucusing when your guy is in the White House and you aren't changing that for the second term, it's still important to caucus.

Put some thought into what you'd like your party to stand for, but go to the caucus!

In a story on Caffeinated Thoughts, they state that a representative for President Trump, Nancy Schulze, Founder of the Republican Congressional Wives Speakers, Advisory Board Member of Women for Trump will be at the caucus in Vinton.
