February 8, 2019 The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular adjourned session with Supervisors Primmer, Bierschenk and Seeman present. Primmer called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously. Bierschenk moved/ Seeman seconded: To approve tax suspension on parcel’s #240-07300 and #240-07550 pursuant to Iowa Code section 427.9. Motion carried. Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve the minutes of February 5, 2019. Motion carried. Sheriff Ron Tippett was present to update the board about the plans for a rural access center and the “Stepping up” Initiative plan. Tippett along with Judy Breja have been working together to come up with a good estimate for the budget. Auditor Rippel will share it with the Region fiscal agent as well. The Supervisor’s spent most of the meeting going through the budget and created a list of their questions and concerns. The Board would like to invite a few departments back in next week’s meeting for some final tweaks. Discussion was had about the heating and air conditioning ductwork needed at the Benton County Service Center. Rabe Hardware provided an estimate of the proposed work. The Board then decided to move the meeting to go on site along with Maintenance Director Rick Bramow and view the areas that will need the work. The Board also looked where they want to put the handicap parking and discussed plans regarding the parking lot. A call was made to the Engineer to provide some rough cost estimates for budgeting.
