December 4, 2018 The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular adjourned session with Supervisors Primmer, Wiley and Bierschenk present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously. Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve the minutes from November 27, 2018. Motion carried. Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To set Tuesday January 8, 2019 at 9:15 a.m. for a land use hearing date for Eric and Amanda Kakac for part of the NW ¼ NW ¼ SW ¼ of 2-84-11. Motion carried. Bierschenk moved/Wiley seconded: To set Tuesday January 8, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. for a land use hearing date for Brett and Jena Heishman in Parcel A of the NE ¼ of SW ¼ of NW ¼ of 36-82-10. Motion carried. Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve and authorize the chairman to sign the Native American Tribal consultation letters regarding the activities planned through the Iowa Watershed Approach program, funded by a National Disaster Resiliency (NDR) grant under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Motion carried. Lexa Speidel discussed possible wage increases for an employee in her office. The board said it was nothing personal, but they felt the precedence had been set and this needs to only happen at budget time and once a year. Greg Walston, Iowa State Extension and outreach and also a representative for the Old School Produce Partners provided the board an update on the status of continuing a transition of Old School Garden for 2019 and a possible lease agreement with the county. Walston provided a handout with proposed budget figures along with commitments and action plan goals. The board agreed to pursue a possible yearly lease agreement and instruct the county attorney to construct one. County Engineer presented a map of all the bridges in Benton County. Some are inspected annually while others are done every 2. The weight restrictions have changed on five highlighted. Parizek also provided an update on a state grant application. Bierschenk moved/Wiley seconded: To approve Resolution #18-57, Reduce Bridge Embargos. Motion carried. RESOLUTION #18-57 WHEREAS, the structures at these locations due to load rating computations, age and design have reached the point in time where a more restricted weight limit needs to be imposed, BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED by the Benton County Board of Supervisors that the following new weight restrictions be imposed and restricted as follows: CA-0011 6 ton 0.1 mile south of the NW corner of section 7-84-9 (Canton Township) on 28th Avenue. CE-0047 6 ton 0.3 mile north of the SW corner of section 30-86-11 (Cedar Township) on 16th Avenue. CE-0940 10 ton 0.1 mile west of the NE corner of section 30-86-11 (Cedar Township) on 54th Street. HA-2535 10 ton 0.5 mile south and 0.5 mile east of the NW corner of section 21-86-10 (Harrison Township) on 24th Avenue Drive. BE-5737 21 ton / 32 ton / 32 ton 0.3 mile north and 0.7 mile east of the SW corner of section 25-83-09 (Benton Township) on 59th Street Trail.
