Editor's Note: We continue introducing county candidates who are on next Tuesday's primary ballot with a profile of Vicky Schwenker, who is running unopposed for the Democratic nomination for Auditor. As with other profiles, we offer this information in the candidate's own words.

My name is Vicky Schwenker & I am running for Benton County Auditor. I
have lived in Vinton for 19 years. I am originally from Waterloo, IA. I am 51 years
young. I have three grown children & two grandchildren.

I attended Iowa State & Kirkwood Community College where I studied
accounting & business. College taught me how to study & how to find the answers
when I didn't know them.

In my first 20 career years I was in the restaurant business, where I quickly
moved up the ladder. I was an assistant manager, manager, general manager,
partner, & finally business owner. Over that time I learned a lot about budgets,
profit & loss statements, & how to develop & manage people.

Currently I work in the Benton County Assessor's Office as Deputy Assessor.

I have been in the Assessor’s Office for 15 years. While in this office I have worked on
property valuations, land divisions, property credits & exemptions & much more.
My training has come from time in the office & in the classroom learning Iowa
Code. I am currently on a list as an eligible candidate for Assessor in the State of
Iowa.

I am a member of the Vinton Presbyterian Church, where I serve as a
Deacon. My faith is very important to me! I enjoy the work I do through the church.
I also volunteer when I can for various fund raisers. Community involvement is
something I feel everyone should allow time for.

If elected as Auditor I would work on communication between County offices
& departments. I believe that every office/department should work together to serve
the residents of Benton County. Work towards bettering Benton County for the
good of the County & not for anyone person's own agenda. I would also work on
continuing to have the work environment be a positive place where County
Employees could feel good about their contributions & performance. With this
empowerment providing superior service to the Benton County residents.

Thank you for this opportunity to introduce myself. If you have any
questions or comments you would like to discuss I can be reached at
schwenkerforauditor@gmail.eom.
