Firearms classes set

  A new law which went into effect on January 1, 2011 requires the Sheriff of each county to issue a permit to carry weapons to any person 21 years of age or older who is not addicted to alcohol, not likely to use a weapon unlawfully or in such a manner as would endanger the person’s self or others, is not a felon, and has not been convicted of a serious or aggravated misdemeanor in the past three years.

Jazz Festival on Saturday, March 5th

  The Vinton-Shellsburg High School will be host to the 2011 NEIBA Jazz Festival on Saturday, March 5th.  This event will feature 24 High School and Middle School Jazz Bands from all over the Northeast Iowa District.

PEO Chapter MZ

  PEO Chapter MZ will meet at 1:30 PM on Monday, March 14, at the home of Joan Hyde assisted by Barb Fuchs.  The program will be presented by Frieda Davis.

Safe Routes To School Workshop

  The Vinton Parks & Recreation Department, the V/S Schools and the Vinton Trails Committee is sponsoring this local meeting to start in motion possible trails and routes in the southern neighborhoods of our community.

IOWA DOT REGULATIONS MEETING

FRIDAY, MARCH 18, 2011 10:00 a.m. Vinton Skate & Activity Center 1703 C Ave. Vinton   Iowa DOT Officer Chris Boswell will be the featured speaker and help explain the new regulations concerning farm trucks and trailers.
