The Blackberry Bushes to Perform at Farmers Mercantile Hall in Garrison

The Blackberry Bushes will perform at Farmers Mercantile Hall in Garrison, on Sunday, October 14th from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Jes Raymond & Jakob Breitbach form the core of the Blackberry Bushes, featuring some great flatpicking, clawhammer banjo and virtuoso fiddle, along with some beautiful original music.

AMERICAN LEGION FRYING UP FOOD FOR SCHOLARS

The Vinton American Legion will be frying burgers and brats in the Fareway parking lot on Saturday, August 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.   Cost is a free will donation.

Fields of Faith event to be held at Union Football Field

The Annual Fields of Faith event will take place at hundreds of schools nationwide, including locally at Union Football Field, on Wednesday, Oct. 3. “We are excited to say we will have three impact stories from two UNI gals who  are swimmers and  a call to action with a former arena football player, Mick Rodemeyer at he end,” says organizer and Union coach Joe Hadachek.

Breast cancer survivors to meet Oct. 8

The Benton County Breast Cancer Survivors will meet October 8 in the dining room of Windsor Manor at 5:45. Dinner is seven dollars; no reservations required.

Woosley Tours to arrive in Vinton September 27

"Last year the first Woosley Tours arrived in Vinton for a noon time meal event and it was, indeed, very successful. So much so, that they are returning on September 27, for a second dining/meeting/entertainment experience" said Frank Kruse, Event Coordinator Lavanda Woosley operates a touring company out of Cedar Rapids and says of her business, "I schedule trips when I want to go, where I want to go and then see who wants to come along!" She chose to tour Vinton's historic Rock Island Depot complete with tour guide Reverend Phil , Vinton's noted railroad historian and scholar.
