Kirkwood Community College is offering hands-on, interactive learning opportunities for kids and teens during spring break through its popular KICK Camps, also known as Kirkwood Interactive Camps for Kids. Camps will be held the week of March 16, and are designed to keep students engaged, learning and having fun while school is out.
Three camps are available this spring, with options lasting three, four or five days. Camp offerings include Alternative Energy for students ages 12–16, Crime Scene Investigators for ages 8–12, and LEGO Robotics for ages 8–13. Each camp focuses on experiential learning, problem-solving and creativity in a college-campus environment.
“KICK Camps give students a chance to explore new interests while building confidence and skills they can carry into the classroom and beyond,” said Kirkwood Program Developer Melanie Bouzek. “Our camps are intentionally designed to be fun, interactive and educational, so kids are excited to come back each day. We also hear from parents that they appreciate knowing their children are learning something meaningful over spring break. It’s a great balance of enrichment and enjoyment.”
The Alternative Energy camp introduces older students to renewable energy concepts through hands-on experiments and real-world applications. Crime Scene Investigators allows younger campers to step into the role of forensic scientists by analyzing evidence and solving mock cases. LEGO Robotics challenges students to design, build and program robots while developing teamwork and critical-thinking skills.
In addition to building STEM and critical-thinking skills, KICK Camps provide a structured, engaging environment for students to connect with peers, discover new passions and spend spring break in a productive way. Campers gain valuable experience through interactive projects while parents can feel confident their children are participating in a safe and enriching program.
All KICK Camps are led by experienced instructors and take place on Kirkwood’s campus, giving students an early look at a college learning environment in a supportive, age-appropriate setting.
