At the regular May meeting, Center Point Friends of the Public Library did the details for the annual used book sale. Because of the confluence of construction and carnival the book sale will be one day only, Saturday, May 30, during Library hours, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The book sale is an important traditional fund raising event for Friends, an organization formed to help the Public Library much like PTA helps public schools.

With construction closing the Library outside basement entrance, book bargain hunters are reminded to use the front Library entrance. Friends decided to hold the line on prices, charging the usual 50 cents for hard covers, 25 for paperbacks, 10 for magazines, 50 for DVDs, VHS for 10 cents.

Besides the book sale, Friends did a bit of brainstorming on possible future fund raisers such as a used accessory sale, Tupperware party or zombie party.

The Library Summer Reading Program, May 26 through the finale July 28 at Wakema Park, was briefly discussed. Sign up for kids and adults is currently underway and there is a separate online program.
