Presbyterian youth plan rose fund-raiser

The Vinton Presbyterian Church junior and senior high youth groups will be at John's Qwik Stop Saturday morning (Jan. 27) from 9 a.m. to noon, pre-selling roses for Valentine's Day as a fundraiser for a mission trip to Minneapolis this summer.

American Legion to hold Tenderloin Dinner

Back by popular demand, the Vinton American Legion will be having a Tenderloin Dinner, Thursday, January 25 from 5 to 7 pm. Each dinner is $8.00, which includes a 6 once Tenderloin on aKaiser Bun, with French Fries, Coleslaw and Dessert.

Splash Pad Challenge combines fitness with fund-raising

Julie Lessig and her Total Balance team are inviting area residents to join the February Splash Pad Challenge, as a way to raise money for benches for the VPRD project planned for the near future as well as improve healthy lifestyles.

VSHS band soup supper set for tonight

The annual Vinton-Shellsburg High School Band Soup Supper will take place from 5-7 p.m. tonight in the VSHS cafeteria. Cost is $6 at the door. The menu includes chili and chicken noodle soup and pie for dessert.

Virginia Gay Hospital celebrates National Blood Donor Month at January blood drive

Since 1970, January has been designated as National Blood Donor Month to remind the public about the importance of donating blood. This is also a time to thank blood donors for the vital role they play in providing a safe and adequate blood supply to hospitals within their communities like Virginia Gay Hospital.
