Vinton Garden Club
October 31, 2012
The Vinton Garden Club member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc. Central Region, Federated Garden Clubs of Iowa, Inc. and District II met in the home of Cindy Pattee.
The program “Conserving Our Land” was given by Tina Cibula from NRCS.
President Fran Stueck called the meeting to order after the program. 10 members recited the Pledge of Allegiance and the Conservation Pledge. Roll call was taken with question of “how do each member conserve the land”.
Secretary Joyce Bratten read the minutes from the September meeting. There was one correction to be made.
Treasurer Connie McClintock gave the treasurers report.
No new bills were presented and no questions for treasurer so report will be filed for audit.
Garden Therapy:
Rita and Connie brought some samples and ideas to the club for our next therapy secession at the Windsor Manor.
Joyce gave a report from National Gardener on dragonflies.
The Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl Posters will be judged at our Nov. meeting.
Fran Stueck attended the District II Presidents workshop in Manchester Oct. 15th. It was a fun time sharing ideas with other clubs and she came home with ideas for programs in 2013.
Fran also attended the Central Region Convention in St. Louis, Mo. She is CR Awards chairman and handed out certificates for projects done in 2012 at the meeting. The workshops were fun and informative. In 2013 it will be in Middlebury, Indiana.
The clubs November meeting will be held in Dysart. Members will carpool and leave at
9:15 am.
Fran thanked Cindy for being the hostess. Fran adjourned the meeting.
