CP LIBRARY FRIENDS T0 BE SANTA’S
HELPERS AT B&N BOOKFAIR NOV. 24
Center Point Friends of the Library, at its November meeting, worked on plans for its second Christmas fundraising bookfair at Barnes & Noble. Friends will have a booth at the Cedar Rapids Collins Road Barnes & Noble all day Saturday, November 24, and will receive a percentage of that day’s B&N sales when patrons kindly drop Center Point Friends of the Library’s name at check out.
Barnes & Noble offers the in store fund raising opportunity to community nonprofits as well as a share of online sales when shoppers use a special ID number the week of the bookfair. The Center Point Friends ID is 10674752 used Nov. 24 through Nov. 29.
Volunteering to work at the bookfair were: Roberta Gilchrist, Dorothea Wood, Kim Schantz, Connie Robinson, Christina Lahr, Marj Pepin, Vicki Thompson and Sharon Hannen.
Treasurer Vicki Thompson reported Friends made almost $1800 for the Library at the October quilt show and book sale. Encouraged by success and the availability of more donated fabric, craft kits and craft and quilting books, Friends decided to have another quilt exhibit and book, fabric, notions and kits sale on Saturday, January 26. The group will have a quilt committee meeting on Dec. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Library. People who want to get in on the fun of doing this project can please leave their names and numbers at the Library.
Friends will not have a regular meeting in December.
