Vinton-Shellsburg's Public Speaking class will be presenting their Persuasive Speeches at the Vinton Public Library on October 25th, 26th, 29th and the 30th from 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The Public is invited to attend these public presentations and learn about the many topics of interest to the students and the community. Topics include: A 9:05 a.m. start time for the high school students, concealed carry of a firearm vs. open carry, too much homework, more concern on bullying issues, reduce the restriction of Diesel fuel use laws, the need to redesign the football field with artificial field turf, physical education credit for sport participation, repeal of ""no child left behind", support going to a 'year-round' school schedule, support the development of an indoor sports complex, use of glyphosete vs. 2,4-D in agriculture, end the alternative school program, development of an agroponic greenhouse program, move to a school uniform and the advantage of clearing out the Dudgeon area.
The Vinton Public Library gives students a unique opportunity to practice speaking in a diverse setting as well as giving the public an opportunity to see the work being done in our school buildings.
