Large Turnout Expected for Race Day

With only 10 days to go before A Flaughless 5K makes its debut, the community of Vinton and throughout Iowa have already embraced this event with a great deal of support. Thanks to more than 80 sponsors and more than 300 registrations, A Flaughless 5K has already raised more than $3,000 to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.

"The support we have received is more than we imagined. We were hoping for a few sponsors, maybe 100 participants and be able to raise $1000 for Wounded Warrior Project," said Georgia Meeker Sysouchanh, who is coordinating the event. "There was not one person that Dan wasn't friends with, and this is an excellent testimony to his character."

Lisa Horak, who is also helping coordinate the event, echoed the sentiment, "This is our first year and we already tripled our goal. I can only hope the momentum continues for years to come."

Additional Information

Online registration for the run/walk will continue through the morning of the race; however the deadline to guarantee a t-shirt has passed. Extra t-shirts will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Visit www.flaughless.com to register.
