At its September 6, 2012, meeting, Center Point Friends of the Library elected officers and made plans for a quilt show and book sale for Oct. 20.
The quilt show/book sale will be from 9 to 3, Saturday, October 20. Many of the large selection of quilting and needlework books were donated by the family of the late Arametta Romine. Others came from Shirley Hollenbeck’s collection. Anyone with quilting books to donate for the sale may drop them off at the Library. Donated fabric and notions may also be dropped off at the Library. The books will be sold for from $1 to $5.
A silent auction of five decorator quilts made and donated by Donna Cobley will be held during the show and book sale. Those who would like to have their new or antique quilts displayed in the show should bring them to the Library basement at 8 a.m. the day of the show.
Friends officers elected for 2012-2013 were: president – Christina Lahr; vice president – Marj Pepin; secretary – Sharon Hannen; treasurer – Vicki Thompson; and alternate officer – Dorothea Wood.
Friends meets the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 at the Library. The meetings are public and everyone is invited. Yearly dues are $5 for individuals, $10 for families, and $25 for businesses.
