A totally fun and enjoyable day is in store at the Garrison Emergency Services Foundation annual Fun Day Celebration on Saturday, July 7. This event is also the community’s annual celebration. The newly renovated city park will be the center of activity for the day. There will be a dedication ceremony for the restored park and new playground equipment at 1 pm.

The day begins with a Poker Run Fundraiser with Registration at the Hitchin Post at 8 AM with departure at 9 AM. Proceeds will be donated to the Survivors of Benton County, the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation and the East Central Iowa Autism Society. Entry fee is $10 per rider. Activities at the park from Noon to 3 PM include a Craft & Vendor Fair, games, prizes a racing simulator and other activities. Proceeds will benefit the Garrison Park Project hosted by the GBC Park Fund Committee.

The 5th Annual Garrison Car Cruise will be held at 5 PM with registration from 2 PM to 4 PM. Registration is $10. There will be plaques for the first 50 entries!! For more information on the car cruise contact Steve Ary at 477-8148.

The annual dance and barbeque will once again be held at the Park under a big-top tent. So rain or shine, all festivities will go on. The pork barbeque begins at 5:30 p.m. The dance follows from 8:00 p.m. to midnight, with music provided by the live band “VibraCats.” Tickets are $10 for the hog roast.

The Garrison Emergency Services Foundation Inc. is a non-profit organization serving the needs of the Garrison Fire Department, Garrison First Responders and Garrison Emergency Services Auxiliary also assist with the event. All proceeds will be used for improvements to the Garrison Emergency Services and ongoing costs of disaster recovery.
