Events and Activities : \'The Last 5 Years:\' Vinton native Erin Horst prepares for show in Elkader

Vinton native Erin Horst and Jonathon Moser will perform 'The Last 5 Years' in Elkader in July.

During the "Riverside's Got Talent" event during Party in the Park last Saturday, the audience saw a local performer's preview of an upcoming event at another eastern Iowa venue.

Erin Horst and fellow cast member Jonathon Moser performed a song from "The Last Five Years."

The two will star in the Elkader Opera House Players production, which tells the story of the changes and challenges a couple faces in their relationship.

Below is a description of the show:

• It's the story of a five-year relationship between a man and a woman, told through jazz, latin, pop, and every other type of music you can think of.
  
  For those not familiar with the story of The Last Five Years, it’s terribly bittersweet, pinging and ponging you between elation and frustration with the change up of every song. The male character (Jamie Wellerstein) moves forward, starting his story at the beginning of the relationship, while the woman (Cathy Hyatt) starts telling her story from the end.
