The 8th Annual Master Gardeners Spring Extravagana will be held on Saturday, May 12 at the Vinton-Shellsburg High School.
The event starts with a plant sale from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. that is open to the public. There will be loads of plants grown and tested by Master Gardeners to put in your sun or shade gardens. There will also be garden art flowers, decorative solar lights, concrete leaf castings and much more for sale. Everyone needs just one more plant!
The program for registered attendees starts at 10:00 a.m. with a presentation by Master Gardener Jay McWherter. His presentation on hostas is sure to inspire you. Jay has over 700 varieties in his personal collection and will share gorgeous photos of them.
At 11:00 a.m. attendees will be able to let their creative juices flow making a Kinetic Garden ornament for their garden. Join the fun with Master Gardeners Louise Harn and Karla McGrail to make you own unique wire and bead garden accent.
Cost of the program is $15.00 and is due by May 4th to the Benton County Extension office at 501 1st Ave, Vinton. After May 4th, the cost will be $20.00. The fee is non-refundable. If you have any questions, please call the extension office at 472-4739 or Kris Birker at 472-2995.
