VINTON GARDEN CLUB ANNUAL PLANT AND BAKE SALE
Wow, what a spring we've been having. The flowering trees, bushes and spring bulbs have had awesome color because of our mild winter. The perennials started growing in March with the warm weather so now some of them are blooming before they normally do. The tree peonies and fern leaf peony are blooming along with creeping phlox and other early perennials.
The Vinton Garden Club annual plant sale has been moved up 3 weeks earlier then normal because of the growth of the perennials and it's time to divide them and plant them in your garden.
The sale is scheduled for Friday, April 20th, at the Benton County Fairgrounds in the open class building. The doors will open at 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The members are busy potting up plants for you to purchase. President, Fran Stueck said, “I would buy plants from someone locally that has been growing them in their garden, because you know they are hardy in this area.” There will be a large selection for you to choose from at the sale such as gas plant, fernleaf peony, monarda, daylilies, hostas, geraniums, liatris, asters, mums, lily of the valley, iris, anenome and many more varities.
Hope to see you there. If you have any garden related questions bring them and we''ll try and answer them for you.
If you have any questions please call Fran Stueck 319-472-3032.
