School is out for Winter Break but does that now mean you have to be stuck inside and bored to tears watching rerun TV? Of course not! The Vinton Parks & Recreation Department has plenty of upcoming activities to keep Vinton-Shellsburg youth occupied while celebrating the holiday season!
The Winter Carnival at the Vinton Skate & Activity Center will take place from 9 AM – 11 AM on Tuesday, December 27th. There will be a wide variety of carnival games offered where youth in grades 5 and under will try their luck at winning some prizes! Best of all, tickets to play the games are only 10 cents apiece! There is no pre-registration required for this event; just simply show up and have fun!
On Wednesday, December 28th, VPRD will be hosting its annual Youth Dodgeball Tournament at the Vinton Recreation Center. The tournament is 3 vs 3 but teams may be coed and have up to four players. Additionally, this tournament is for youth in grades 3rd through 8th. Tournament play will begin at 9 AM but all teams must be registered and pay the $10 team fee by December 27th.
VPRD and Benton County 4-H will be bringing in 2012 just a little early with our “New Years Eve at Noon” event on Friday, December 30th. Kids in grades K through 5th are welcome to join the party at the Vinton Skate & Activity Center for a few hours of rollerskating, dancing, food, games, crafts and end-of-the-year fun! This event will begin at 10 AM and will conclude at 1 PM. If pre-registered by Tuesday, December 27th, the cost for this event per person is $4 and even includes lunch and a beverage!
Registration forms for the Dodgeball Tournament and the New Years Eve at Noon event may be found at the Vinton Recreation Center or on our webpage at www.vprdzone.com. Please call 472-4164 or email vprdbarker@vintoniowa.net with any questions you may have.
