Events and Activities : Walston Retirement Celebration January 22

Greg Walson, has served with the Benton County Extension and Outreach as the County Director will be celebrated at a Retirement Celebration. On Thursday, January 22, (Snow date January 29th) from 4-6:00 p.m. at the Van Horne Community Center located at 508 1st Ave. in Van Horne. 

Greg has been a staple in our community over the years. You may have seen him in the community gardens organizing, teaching others, planting, weeding, harvesting at the old West School. When gardening season is over, he brings Santa to area Christmas events around the community from the Christmas Parade, ringing the red kettle bell at Fareway or visiting with children at the Vinton Parks and Recreation breakfast with Santa.

Part of his job through the Benton County Extension, he organized the farm safety days helping to bring children to the fairgrounds for a teaching opportunity to help prevent accidents on the farm.

Greg is an all-around great guy  If you can make it to his retirement party, do it! If you can’t, but you meet him on the street, thank him for serving our community so well!
