On Thursday, July 25 beginning at 6:30 pm a presentation sponsored by the Benton County Historical Society, will be held at the Vinton Railroad Depot, 612 2nd Avenue, Vinton.
For a free will donation, you can enjoy a presentation by Linda McCann.
Rosie the Riveter has become an iconic representation of the independent woman. Notably, she symbolizes the almost 20 million women who went to work in war industries during World War II. Iowa author, Linda McCann, interviewed Rosies and wrote their stories which she will share.
There were at least 70 companies in Iowa that had military contracts and used Rosies for the work. Companies included Maytag, John Deere and a plane factory in Des Moines.
Books will be for sale after the presentation for $20 each-- Cash or checks accepted.
